FILIPINO ARTIST Ambit Mendoza

I want to be called just a contemporary artist, using my Igorota nickname as my artist name (Ambit Mendoza). Through this, i won’t be borrowing my husband’s family name as we brand our own identities.

Ambit means little girl in our dialect.

My favorite subjects have a lot to do with my childhood, family and love for nature. I chose bonsai as the best metaphor of what i’ve gone through growing up. Thus, elements of potted plants and penjing dishes are my usual stories on canvas, encased in cloche glass domes or glass jars.

I draw inspirations from the things i love doing. Anyting that shows optimism, passion and faith. My family and hobbies are my subjects, coupled with my ardor with bonsai culture and passion for gardening.
